This fabulous vintage BOJ turtle bell from Eibar, Spain is equal parts sculpture, curiosity and functional object.

Crafted in brass, the turtle features an ornate domed shell with intricate gold floral damascene-style decoration against a dark ground. Press the head and—ding!—the concealed mechanical bell rings from within.

Originally designed as a desk, counter or hotel-style service bell, today it's just as good perched on a coffee table, bar cart or bookshelf among a collection of vintage curiosities.

Best of all: the bell has been tested and is working properly.

A wonderfully unusual example of Spanish decorative metalwork—and considerably more interesting than your average brass turtle.
