This vintage blue and yellow Murano glass obelisk is such a special piece. Using the "Sommerso" technique, which in Italian literally means “submerged”. This technique is used to create several layers of glass (usually with different contrasting colors) inside a single object, giving the illusion of “immersed” colors that lay on top of each other without mixing. Signed by Alessandro Mandruzzato, who comes from a long line of famous Murano glass artists, this truly is a piece of glass art that you'll treasure forever.
Measures 7 3/4" tall with a 2 3/4" square base
The piece is in vintage condition. It has two chips on the back side above the maker’s label. Please see photos for closeups. No other signs of wear to be found.
